Navy and white stripes are a timelessly classic look originally popularized by Coco Chanel in 1917 when she incorporated sailor's stripes into a nautical fashion line after a trip to the French coast. Our White and Navy equal stripes suspenders take the same look but turn the stripes from horizontal to vertical giving a fresh twist to an enduring fashion statement. These high quality braces are custom made in Britain for SuspenderStore by Albert Thurston - an esteemed manufacturer of men's accessories for almost 200 years. The barathea ribbon on the straps is a woven, non-stretchy material with a pebbled finish. These 1 3/8 inch wide Y-back suspenders are enhanced with high quality nickel hardware, supple goat skin leather crosspatch and button-end attachments, and navy blue elastic below the crosspatch for a flexible and comfortable fit. Suspender sizes indicate the length of the suspender straps in inches from the end of the attachment point in the front past the cross patch on the back to the tip of the attachment point on the back.

How to Measure

The most accurate way to determine the correct suspender size is to use a tape measure on the person who will be wearing the suspenders as shown in the image below:

Once you have this measurement, round up to the next size suspender, since the suspender size indicates the length of the straps fully extended and the suspenders can be shortened, not lengthened.

Note: If the measurement is very close to a suspender size and you prefer the adjusters to fall high on the torso, order the next size up. For example, if you measure 41 inches, the adjusters on a 42-inch suspender will fall about 1 inch above the waistband of the pants or skirt, whereas those of a 48-inch suspender will fall about 7 inches above the waistband. This is simply a matter of personal preference.
