University neckties, sometimes also referred to as rep ties, feature repeating diagonal 1/2 inch stripes in two colors, one of which, most often is navy blue.  The direction of the stripes (from left shoulder to right waist or right shoulder to left waist) varies depending on which side of the "pond" you are on.  Our classic navy blue and pink repp tie is American style, meaning that the stripes go from the right shoulder towards the left waist. Made of a dressy microfiber twill that looks and feels just like silk, this cheerful tie will pair well with a dark navy suit and a solid or pin striped shirt for a sophisticated look.  3.5 inches wide at the widest point and a standard 58 inches long. Suspender sizes indicate the length of the suspender straps in inches from the end of the attachment point in the front past the cross patch on the back to the tip of the attachment point on the back.

How to Measure

The most accurate way to determine the correct suspender size is to use a tape measure on the person who will be wearing the suspenders as shown in the image below:

Once you have this measurement, round up to the next size suspender, since the suspender size indicates the length of the straps fully extended and the suspenders can be shortened, not lengthened.

Note: If the measurement is very close to a suspender size and you prefer the adjusters to fall high on the torso, order the next size up. For example, if you measure 41 inches, the adjusters on a 42-inch suspender will fall about 1 inch above the waistband of the pants or skirt, whereas those of a 48-inch suspender will fall about 7 inches above the waistband. This is simply a matter of personal preference.
